CABARET
CABARET in the Tatum Theatre at The University of Southern Mississippi. Rather than a traditional setting of Cabaret, the director and design team chose to set our production in a gritty, back alley Weimar Kabaret – telling the stories of real people in real places in real circumstances. The design had an arc beginning with big, bright, and colorful looks at the Kit Kat Club to the stark, desolate, gritty looks of Berlin on the verge of war. As conditions in Berlin worsen, the color of the light bleached - signifying the blatant destruction of European art and culture. Direction by Lou Rackoff, Scenic Design by Stephen Judd, Costume Design by Erin Jester, Sound Design by Tiffany Nabors, Photos by Kelly Dunn.
